What's with this new supernatural plot for the Max Payne movie?

As far as I know Max Payne fights drug dealers and mob bosses in the video game. Now he's some kind of archangel? What's up with this massacred plot?

1. I think its because in the video game or I don't know if it was a comic book but he has a weird psychological fight with himself because his baby son died or his wife died. Thats not a spoiler, its a re-occuring theme in the video game and it is a very weird, scary gameplay. Hes fighting his personal demons
2. the fallen angels....they're hallucinations from the Valkyrie drug. They're actually from an unofficial expansion mod for Max Payne 2. let's see how they incorporate this in the movie....if he is having hallucinations from being caught and drugged up...or if indeed he is fighting demons as some sort of avenging angel born out of the death of his family.
